What is the difference between a kayak and a canoe?

A canoe is a type of light boat, paddled with a single-blade paddle, designed for navigation on rivers and lakes. At Cap Ardennes Events, we have 2 or 2.5-seater canoes. This type of boat was originally built by North American Indigenous peoples.

The kayak, on the other hand, is of Inuit origin, maneuvered using a single or double-blade paddle. At Cap Ardennes Events, we use single-seater kayaks, with a double-hull tunnel for greater stability.

Canoe-Kayak Rental Conditions

Before embarking on your adventure at Lac des Vieilles Forges, please familiarize yourself with our rental conditions, designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone:

Swimming Skills : It is essential to be able to swim at least 25 meters and be able to immerse yourself. Good physical condition is also required to participate in the activity.
Minimum Age : Children must be at least 6 years old to participate and must be accompanied by their parents or a legal guardian throughout the activity.
Safety: Wearing a life jacket, provided and approved by us, is mandatory for everyone during the activity.
Payment Terms : Any rental hour started is fully due. Once the rental is confirmed, the fees cannot be refunded.
Respect for Rules : By renting our equipment, the renter agrees to strictly follow the practitioner’s code recommendations and the safety instructions given by our team.
Return of Equipment : All equipment and safety gear provided must be returned in good condition at the end of the rental period.

Important : A valid ID card is required for all rentals. Please ensure you have it with you to facilitate the rental process and guarantee a smooth and quick experience.

1-Seater Kayak: For solo adventurers or those seeking a more dynamic experience, our 1-seater kayaks are perfect for navigating freely on the calm waters of the lake.
Paddle: Each boat is equipped with a suitable paddle, ensuring optimal maneuverability and a smooth paddling experience.
Life Jacket: Safety first! A life jacket is provided with each rental to ensure your safety throughout your adventure.
Waterproof Container: Keep your belongings dry! A waterproof container is also available to protect your personal items while you enjoy your day on the water.
